Mischa is originally from Grand Island, Neb., and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, with a major in magazine journalism and minor in business management. She began her career in journalism and railroading at Railway Track & Structures in 2001 when she joined as assistant editor, before being named managing editor in 2008 and editor in 2010.

Amtrak: We’re “Ready to Build”

Amtrak says its "Ready to Build" and a new campaign highlights five projects the railroad has deemed critical in order to realize a "renewed, modern passenger rail system."

Construction of Sound Transit's East Link light-rail tunnel has reached 30 percent completion, according to the transit agency. Excavation is expected to progress at approximately three to four feet per day.

The Panhandle Logistics Solutions (PLS), a bulk transload facility operated by TNW Corporation, opened Oct. 3. The facility is located approximately 50 miles north of Amarillo, near Sunray, Texas.

The Port of Oakland Commissioners approved a rail project last week that will offer "a refrigerated gateway to Asia for U.S. meat exports."

London Trackwork Inc. has been awarded the supply contract for the Valley Line LRT project in Edmonton, Alberta.

The California High-Speed Rail Authority (CHSRA) says it has met federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009 requirements by fully investing the more than $2.55 billion granted to the state since 2009 to build the nation's first high-speed rail system.
