Trinity Railway Express announced Feb. 7 that the commuter rail service will temporarily alter its schedule starting Feb. 13 to allow for construction on Fort Worth's new Trinity Lakes Station.

The modified schedule is expected to last for about six months. The new station will be located east of Loop 820 and north of Trinity Boulevard, between the agency’s Richland Hills and Bell stations, TRE said. The station will be part of a planned 1,600-acre community to be called Trinity Lakes, a release said.

TRE service is provided jointly by Dallas Area Rapid Transit and Trinity Metro. DART and Trinity Metro are responsible for managing contracts and procurement for the services of contractors and vendors of materials and supplies.

As of fiscal year 2021, TRE had an annual ridership of 795,300, less than half of its ridership level of 2 million recorded in pre-pandemic 2019. Figures were not yet readily available for the 2022 ridership count.
