WMATA announces Yellow Line reopening date

Metro is welcoming customers back to the Yellow Line on Sunday, May 7, 2023, beginning with the start of rail service at 7 a.m. The reopening will mark the completion of extensive rehabilitation work on the Yellow Line tunnel and bridge between Pentagon and L’Enfant Plaza stations.

Management shake-up at WMATA

After years of safety and technical difficulties, with the most recent story of 72 train operators removed from service because of their certification lapse last year, Metro Board Chair Paul Smedberg, on behalf of the Board of Directors, released a statement on management changes at the agency.

NVTC urges Washington Metro to relieve congestion at Rosslyn Tunnel

In a recent letter, Canek Aguirre, chair of the Northern Virginia Transportation Commission, urged Paul Wiedefeld, General Manager/CEO of WMATA to move “swiftly to design a solution to relieve train congestion at the Rosslyn Tunnel ahead of any broader Blue Line, Orange Line or Silver Line rail expansion desires.”
